Recent studies indicate that the majority of patients who receive a diagnosis of cancer remain overweight, do not eat sufficient fruits and vegetables and are sedentary. The 2016 Nobel Prize for medicine was awarded last week to the biologist Yoshinori Ohsumi for his discoveries on autophagy, a form of cellular death which plays a fundamental role in the maintenance of good health.
