A bacterium which makes you lose weight

In preclinical studies, the administration of Akkermansia muciniphila, a bacterium of the intestinal flora, prevented the development of obesity and type 2 diabetes, which are provoked by overeating. According to a recent discovery, these positive effects could be reproduced by a protein present on the surface of this bacterium, which opens the door to its use for the treatment of these obesity-induced metabolic disorders in people.
